which compares the detection performance of the SOS against
existing water contamination detection methods (Karl-Fischer
reagent based methods, RH sensors, FTIR spectroscopy, and the
crackle test).
Wear Modeling
The second key technology in the developed corrosion
modeling approach incorporates a suite of advanced wear and
material damage models to quantify the amount of material life
consumed and provide a more accurate estimation of component
remaining useful life. The authors have identified several existing
wear modeling techniques, such as Harlow and Wei's structural
pitting growth model (Equation 1), for application to corrosion-
related material fatigue. The model in Equation 1 allows direct
estimation of the amount of time, t.
