DATA WAREHOUSE

It is a huge database that stores and manages the data required for

historical and current transaction analysis. ERP and MRP II software store

               data in a data warehouse.

Most data warehouses use one or more database and one or more

information systems store data in this warehouse (Figure 14-8).

Some data warehouses use web farming for their external data. In

web farming, data is collected from the Internet for the data warehouse.

Another source used for data warehouse is click stream. A click stream is

a collection of actions that users perform as they browse through a

website. Analysis of customers click stream can reveal valuable

               information about consumer preference.

                       ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE (EDI)

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems help businesses manage

their supply chains. Traditional EDI systems use a combination of

computers and communications equipment. Using traditional EDI,

businesses can conduct secure, reliable transactions electronically.

Traditional EDI uses a closed network called VAN (Value-added

               Network).
