5) culture creates necessary norms of behavior and assessments to ensure the
regulation of social relations between people;
6) culture acts as a powerful factor of human essential forces in the formation
of a human, transformation of the natural passions, needs and emotions. This is its
humanistic content.
In real life, the aforementioned aspects are complementary and intertwined.
The analysis of these interrelated aspects of culture lets us find out what its main
features are: adaptive, cognitive, axiological, information, communicative,
regulatory, humanistic, human forming, educational, philosophical.
First of all, it should be noted that an adaptive function of culture enables
each individual to adapt to the existing conditions in the community, assessments
and behaviors.
A cognitive function of culture is the second important one, the essence of
which is to guide a person when obtaining the knowledge necessary for governing
the forces of nature and familiarizing with the social phenomena so that to help her
determine her attitude to the world.
An axiological function makes it possible to work out the value orientation for
a person to correct the standards of behavior and identify oneself in the society.
The evaluation of works of spiritual and material culture viewed as artifacts is
carried out by the analysis of the semiotic meaning.
An important role is played by the information function of culture that gives
the humanity and society the relevant information. Culture is a means of producing
information. At the same time it is a device that stores information.
A communicative function performs the transmission of cultural values, their
learning and enrichment are impossible without the communication, namely, the
communication is conducted through a language, music, images etc. that belong to
the treasury of cultural values.
A regulatory function of culture consists in testing and disseminating relevant
rules of behavior that the society dictates and according to which the lifestyle of
people and their leading values, modes of behavior are shaped.
One should note a humanistic function of culture. It was meant by M.
Heidegger, considering culture as the realization of higher values by cultivating the
human dignity.
The basis of a human forming function of culture is the identification and
cultivation of essential powers of a person, her social and spiritual exaltation and
ennoblement.
A special place is occupied by an educational function: culture does not only
adapt a person to a particular natural and social environment. It also acts as a
universal factor of self-development of humanity and an individual. Each
