The culturology as a basic discipline was introduced into the higher education
in Ukraine in 2003. Since then there have been developed standards, programs and

manuals on the subject. The culturology is not limited to consideration of the
history of culture, but extends far beyond comprising philosophical,
anthropological and social aspects of the analysis of culture.

                        3. Structure of cultural knowledge. Methods of the culturology
Considering the structure of cultural knowledge one should pay attention to

the controversial nature of the correlation between the object of the culturology
and that of the other sciences of culture.

The cultural (social) anthropology is a branch of scientific knowledge that
examines the content of a common human activity. It originated in the nineteenth
century primarily as a study of the culture of peoples of North and South America,

Africa, Australia and Oceania. It emerged within the anthropology as a field of
scientific knowledge that focuses on the study of the problems of human existence
in the natural and artificial environment. The anthropological disciplines include

archeology, ethnography, ethnology, folklore, linguistics, physical and social
                  anthropology.
The philosophy of culture is a philosophical discipline that studies the

diversity of culture in all its historical forms and structural modifications. It is
presented as a methodology of cultural studies, because it provides educational
guidelines and means for studying cultural phenomena.
