             The main issues of the calculations for a cut and crushing are
           studied on the example of rivet connection (fig.4.4). On the surface
           a  rivet  contacts  with  the  sheet,  thus,  contact  stresses  arise  that
           indicate   -  normal  crushing  stresses  (fig.  4.5,  a).  They  are

           distributed evenly along the surface of the rivet. In the calculation
           conditional stresses are introduced that evenly distributed over the
           area of diametric section (fig. 4.5, b). This conditional stress in its
           value  is close to the  largest actual crushing stress on the contact
           surface.
             The  distribution  of  tangential  stresses  arising  in  the  cross-
           sections of the rivet can be very complex and difficult to define. In
           a  simplified  (conditional)  calculation  the  tangential  stresses  are
           believed to be distributed evenly on the cut planes of the rivet (fig.
           4.6).  Note that  depending  on  the  design  of  the  connection  there
           may be one or more cut planes.
             When calculating the connections containing several rivets they
           believe that efforts are transmitted uniformly to all rivets.
