A jacket called a ladies’ coat has come to look very much like
the original male garment, perhaps under the influence of the newest
trend to copy elements of male suits.
The traditional jacket in its English variant has lapels, a collar, a
small pocket for a handkerchief and larger pockets with flaps. Shoulders
no longer look as broad as they used to, and are very definitely outlined.
Note that this accent is important. Jackets can be double-breasted or
single-breasted, according to taste. Jackets narrow at the waist are still in
fashion. Stripped fabrics are all the rage.
Chanel jackets have no collar, no lapels, but large buttons
looking like pieces of jewelry. Typically, it is of boucle fabric and has a
                            matching skirt.
Other jackets which are in vogue:
The spenser was introduced about two centuries ago by Lord Spenser,
who shortened the laps of his coat. It is fairly short, narrow at waist, and
strait. Very often, but not obligatory, it is light.
The cardigan is long, straight, collarless, and lapeless. The name
                                                                                            th
originated from Lord Cardigan, who introduced it in the early 19
century. Cardigans have been a standing feature of fashion collections
                            since the 1960s.
Knitted jackets split at the front and can resemble a cardigan,
spenser, blouse, or a jacket. Actually, it is recognized as a jacket because
it is fastened. Otherwise it is a jumper or a pullover. Knitted jackets must
have lining and shoulder pads to accentuate the shoulder line. They go
together with a small and closely fitting knitted sleeveless dress of
                            matching or harmonizing colours.
Skirts are often straight, which is all that can be said about skirts.
However, trousers are all the rage once again, which calls for a closer
                            look at the trousers.
After leggings, it is the “cigarette-look” (narrow knee-long)
trousers worn together with high-heeled shoes that have come to the
                            fore.
Shorts can be part of your evening outfit. They can be worn
together with a long unbuttoned or slit skirt.
Culottes are narrow knee-covering trousers. Bermudas are of the
same length but broader, sometimes with cuffs. Both items perfectly fit
                            the fashionable trousers suit.
Trouser-skirts, which have been with us for several years, have already
                            lost their ground.
These are perhaps the main hit items of the fashion world during the last
few decades. They are the items that make you feel comfortable and sure
