8. Make the following abstract part of your story.
Breakfast is the worst because it all happens at once - eggs and bacon,
and hot milk, and coffee, and toast. The milk boils over, or the toast
burns, or the bacon frizzles, or the eggs go hard. You have to be as a
scalded cat watching everything in time.
9. Read the text and make up a dialogue based on it.
AMERICAN FOOD
The first thing that attracted my attention when I came to the
U.S.A. was American food, not the cars or the skyscrapers For instance,
I had never known before that coffee or tea was drunk during a meal and
American salads looked like inspired creations.
American food is generally healthy and full of vitamins but
some of it is utterly tasteless. What I especially disapproved of was the
meat. My landlady cooked it for three or more hours. The result was
something that tasted like straw. However, I'm grateful for this, as I've
lost my appetite and excess weight.
Not everything about American food is displeasing though.
Even if fruit juices are canned, they are excellent.
Food can be compared to clothes: both are necessities but the
kinds that are the best for us are not necessarily the most attractive.
