The calculations show that the economic consequences of accidents are ten times more
               expensive than the cost of preventing them.

                      Law of Ukraine "On Labor Protection" requires that every company has an Occupational
               Health and Safety  Management  System  (OHMS`), which must  comply with  the  international
               standard ISO 45001 "Occupational health and safety management systems - Requirements".
                      According to this standard, the planning of occupational safety measures should be based
               not only on the compliance of the working conditions and safety at work with the requirements of
               safety regulations but also on the basis of risk management of accidents, occupational injuries and
               occupational diseases.
                      Risk management is carried out through the use of different techniques for identifying and
               assessing risks in order to eliminate unacceptable risks. Many things have been done in this
               direction, in particular, «The technique of assessing the degree of professional risk” – was
               approved.
                      "Fundamentals of Occupational Safety" is a normative discipline, which is
               studied in order to form in the future specialists with higher education the level of
               knowledge, needed in their professional activity, in legal and organizational issues on
               occupational safety, basics of physiology, industrial hygiene and sanitation, fire
               safety.

                      The purpose of the discipline is to provide knowledge, skills, competences for
                      1)   performing   the   effective   professional   activity   by   ensuring   optimal
               management of occupational safety at enterprises (objects of economic, economic
               and scientific-educational activity),
                      2)  formation  of  responsibility  for   personal   and  collective  security   among
               students,
                      3) awareness of the need for full implementation of all measures to guarantee
               safety at work.


                      According to this definition, the main sections of the discipline are formed:
                      - Legal and organizational basis of labor protection;
                      - Occupational hygiene and industrial sanitation;
                      - Worker safety;
                      - Fire safety.


                      "Occupational safety" is a discipline which is based on the general scientific, technical and
               special   disciplines  "Introduction   to   the   profession",   "Higher   Mathematics",   "Physics",
               "Chemistry",   "Biology",   "Metrology   and   standardization",   "Materials   resistance",   "Electric
               technology", "Industrial technology and equipment", "«Life Safety" etc.

                      The objective of the course is to study:
                      - Legal and regulatory framework of labor protection in Ukraine;
                      - Organizational and economic aspects of Occupational Safety;
                      - Impact of the working environment on humans;
                      - Acquiring the skills of analyzing and evaluating the state of OP at the
               enterprise.


                      The subject of study: Protection of human health in the workplace.


                      The Law of Ukraine "On Labor Protection" gives the following definition of Occupational
               Safety :
