4 LABORATORY WORK № 1
THE FRAME AND CRANK MECHANISM
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
4.1 The purpose of the work. Study of the general
structure and work of the thermal engine, the purpose and
features of the design of the parts of the body and crank
mechanism (crank mechanism) of the engine, their main
characteristics and materials of the structural elements.
4.2 Knowledge and skills. As a result of laboratory
work the student must know:
- purpose and general structure of the thermal engine;
- the principle of operation of a two- and four-stroke
engine;
- purpose, general structure, materials of the main parts
of the body and crank mechanism;
- the main forces acting on the part of the backbone and
the CM;
- the nature of the joints and the interaction of the main
parts of the backbone and the CM.
After performing the laboratory work the student must
be able to:
- indicate on the engine the main details of the skeleton
and the CM;
- to determine, by mutual arrangement of parts of the
backbone and CM and other features, what process (tact) is
carried out in the engine cylinder;
- install with the help of devices and devices the piston
to the upper dead point;
- determine the degree of compression;
- draw an indicator diagram of the engine with the
drawing of characteristic points;
