2 BASIC SAFETY RULES
In the laboratories of the Department of Automobile
Transport, students work with flammable combustible and toxic
fluids, electrical appliances, heated surfaces of internal
combustion engines, etc.
When working in the laboratory it is necessary to strictly
observe the guidelines for the implementation of laboratory
work. An unwarranted deviation from the order of execution of
works can lead to a fire or an accident. For incomprehensible
issues of work to contact a teacher or laboratory assistant. After
completion of the work it is necessary to exclude electrical
devices and to close the water and gas cranes.
When working in a laboratory, it is necessary to strictly
observe the measures of fire prevention:
– workplace and tables for work must be clean and free
from unnecessary items (portfolios, bags, hats);
– heating devices should be on sheets of asbestos
cardboard or tiled tiles;
– usage of burners with open flame and the burning of
samples of petroleum products is allowed only in a hood
specially designated for this purpose;
– preparation of samples for test oil (transfusion bottles
of devices, the number of measurements) should be carried out
with exclusion heating devices. After the preparation of oil
products, the remainder of the test sample should be removed
from the workplace. Before turning on the electric stoves, it is
necessary to inspect the workplace carefully, checking if there
are any flammable materials, or empty bottles with sample
samples;
– in the case of a strong smell of gasoline or other
flammable product, as well as - a gasoline spill, all work must
be stopped and the laboratory room thoroughly ventilated;
