gates, a garden overgrown with grass and gorse is no good for
guests.
Task 6. Memorize the following nursery rhime, pay special attention
to the pronunciation of [g]:
I like to go out into the garden.
I like to get up the wall.
I like to do anything really,
But I hate to do nothing at all.
Phonemes [p], [b] – in their pronouncing a complete obstruction
is formed by the lips. The lips are pressed together and
immediately after that the tension of the lip muscles becomes
weaker and the air compressed in the mouth cavity breaks through
this obstruction with plosion. The soft palate is raised and the air
passes through the mouth cavity. In pronouncing [p] the vocal
cords do not vibrate but in [b] – they vibrate. [p] is aspirated
especially before stressed vowels. [b] is partially devoiced at the
end of the words.
