Consequently, in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine,
the fundamental right of a citizen is his/her ability to take certain
actions to satisfy his/her vital material and spiritual interests
established by the state and enshrined in the Constitution and other
normative legal acts.
The Constitution of Ukraine defines the following groups of
fundamental rights: civil, political, economic, social, environmental,
cultural, family.
Civil rights are opportunities for people that characterize their
physical and biological existence, satisfaction of material, spiritual
and some other needs.
These include the following subjective rights: to life; to
inviolability of a person, housing, the secret of correspondence,
telephone conversations, telegraph and other correspondence; to the
choice of place for residence, freedom of movement, free landing of
territory of Ukraine and returning to Ukraine at any time; to freedom
of their own thoughts and words, free expression of their views and
beliefs; freely collect, store, use and distribute the information
verbally, in writing and in any other way of your choice; to freedom of
worldview, religion, etc.
Political rights are the opportunities of a person and a citizen to
participate in public and state lives, to make suggestions on improving
the work of state bodies, their officials and associations of citizens, to
criticize the shortcomings in their work, to participate in various
associations of citizens.
This group includes the following rights: to take part in the
management of state and public affairs, to enjoy equal access to the
civil service, as well as to services in local self-government bodies; to
discuss, adopt laws and make decisions of national and local
importance by taking part in all-Ukrainian and local referenda; to send
individual or collective written appeals or to apply personally to state
bodies, bodies of local self-government and their officials; to form
associations of citizens (political parties, public organizations) and to
participate in their work; to gather peacefully, without weapons and to
hold meetings, rallies, campaigns and demonstrations, and to inform
the executive bodies or local self-government bodies about it in
advance; to elect and be elected to state bodies and local self-
government bodies; have citizenship.
