2) persons irrespective of race, colour of skin, political, religious
and other beliefs, sex, ethnic and social origin, property status, place
of residence, language or other characteristics, who on the date of
enactment of the Law of Ukraine "On Ukrainian Citizenship"
(November 13, 1991) were living in Ukraine and were not citizens of
other countries;
3) persons who arrived in Ukraine for permanent residence after
November 13, 1991, and whose former Soviet passports in 1974
format are marked "citizen of Ukraine" by bodies of the Interior of
Ukraine, as well as their children who arrived with their parents to
Ukraine, if at the time of their arrival in Ukraine they were under age;
4) persons receiving the Ukrainian citizenship under the laws of
Ukraine and international treaties of Ukraine.
The documents attesting the Ukrainian citizenship are the
following:
1) Ukrainian national passport;
2) Ukrainian citizenship certificate;
3) Ukrainian passport for travelling abroad;
4) temporary Ukrainian citizenship certificate;
5) minor’s travel document;
6) diplomatic passport;
7) business passport;
8) seaman's ID card;
9) crew member’s credentials;
10) credentials for returning to Ukraine.
Citizenship of Ukraine is acquired:
1) by birth;
2) by territorial origin;
3) as a result of granting citizenship;
4) due to renewal of citizenship;
5) as a result of adoption;
6) as a result of determination of guardianship or custody of a
child;
7) due to determination of a guardianship of a person who is
recognized as incapable by the court;
8) due to a child’s one or both parents being a citizen of Ukraine;
9) due to determination of paternity;
