The technical characteristics of small-size installation (apparatus)
IRFO-SS (УИПН-M) are the following:
the maximum working temperature is 95 °С;
the working pressure is up to 30 MPa;

the working volume of the measuring press is 100 cm .
the accuracy of the thermostatting regime is 0.1 °С;
Besides the installations considered above such devices as
expansimeter, saturimeter and triometer are used for fast measuring
the main parameters of formation oil (density, oil formation volume
factor, saturation pressure and compressibility factor of formation oil)
with the satisfactory accuracy for practical aims under field conditions.
The downhole expansimeter. The device is used for fast
measuring the compressibility factor (volumetric elasticity factor) of
formation oil or formation water under the field conditions. The
principle of its operation is based on the principle of linked capacities
according to which the pressure change in one capacity causes
the pressure change in another (contiguous) one. The device is the pipe
of relatively not big diameter. In this pipe the main units are situated:
1) the piezodrive which controls the device operation; 2) the sample
receiver; 3) the measuring unit which is the device changing the
pressure of the picked up sample of oil and recording the change of the
sample volume. The downhole expansimeter is equipped by a
clockwork drive. On the device blank the diagram is recorded. The
compressibility factor of formation oil is calculated by the length of
the record trace. Main technical characteristics of the downhole
expansimeter are the following: the working pressure is up to 30 MPa;
the working temperature is up to 100 °С; the volume of the device

chamber is 50 сm ; the length is 1700 mm; the diameter is 38 mm.
Downhole saturimeter. The device is applied for fast measuring
the pressure of saturation of formation oil by gas under the field
conditions. It is made in the form of the pipe joining the sample
receiving chamber and recording pressure gage. At the given depth the
sample of oil gets inside of the sample receiving chamber and is
hermetically cut off in it. The special gadget (device) expanses the oil
in the sample receiving chamber. The corresponding pressure
(the pressure of saturation of formation oil by gas) is recorded at this.
