professor
the highest rank in the faculty at a college or university. A
department can have any number of professors; the term is not
limited to the holder of a university chair. It's also called full
professor.
scholarship
money for college fees and tuition given to a student, usually on
the basis of academic merit, artistic talent, family need, or athletic
ability. Scholarships do not have to be paid back.
student loan
a loan taken out by a student to help pay college fees and tuition.
tuition
the money paid to attend classes at a school or college; fees
tutor
someone who helps students who are having problems in a
particular subject in either high school or college. Tutors are often
students in a higher grade or in graduate school. They are not
faculty members.
work-study
a program that pays for part of a student's salary in a job, to make
the student more attractive to local employers. Many work-study
jobs are on campus.
