                            1. People have three stages as consumers, or shoppers:
                            - Young people want “possession experience”; they want to buy
a house and fill it with objects.
                            - Middle-aged people spend money on things like travel,
                                education, and sports.
                            - Older adults want “being experiences”: they get the most
happiness from simple pleasures and human contact.
(Rebecca L. Oxford, Robin C. Scarcella)
                                                                                            1
                            2.
                            - “Americans spend 40 to 50 percent of their income on housing
                                and food.
                            - American women spend seven hours a week shopping, and
American men spend five hours a week shopping; about half of
the total time is for buying food and clothing.”
(Rebecca L. Oxford, Robin C. Scarcella)
