The editor of the scientific publication must know the types, genres and
types of illustrations. There are types of publications according to the ratio of the
number of illustrative and text material. The editor should take into account
requirements for submission of signatures to illustrations: signatures for artistic-
figurative, documentary, scientific and technical illustrations, to reproductions of
works; punctuation and graphic signature design. The requirements for the
numbering of illustrations are the knowledge of the types of numbering, the form
of the number of illustrations, which illustrations may be unnumbered, how the
numbering of the originals of illustrations and official labels on them is made.
In our opinion, it is advisable to briefly consider the aspects to which special
attention must be paid in the preparation of a scientific publication for printing:
1) The familiarization aspect. During the first reading of the original, it is
important to find out a few key points, which will depend on the decision: whether
to publish or not to publish the book in the world, what will be the measure of
copyright or editorial interference into the text during its preparation for
publication. Namely: the relevance and novelty of the topic; the degree of its
development; targeted destination; the level of use of the author of the latest
literature, the attraction of archival materials. At this stage it is easy to discover
that the "scientific discovery" that is proposed by the author has long been
discovered by his predecessors; that the topic is only outlined, but not completely
developed; For example, for postgraduate students and teachers, the book will not
give them anything new, because it is based on obsolete material; that a significant
part of sections or divisions "downloaded" from Internet sites, etc. The staging and
the search for answers to this questions exactly in this plane shows how a serious
set of qualification characteristics should be owned by a reviewer or author of a
scientific publication.
2) The structural aspect. Careful reading and deep understanding of the
original content allows to determine the "pros" and "cons" block its construction.
The long-term editorial practice of the author of these lines testifies that there are
many scientific texts that can not withstand any criticism regarding the
