Methodical instructions for lectures in the discipline of "Scientific and Technical
Translation" are intended for students of the third year of studies, issued in the specialty 035 -
"Philology".
The purpose of these lecture notes is to consider various techniques of translation of
complex grammatical, lexical, terminological and genre-stylistic phenomena of English scientific
and technical discourse. Methodical instructions for conducting lectures allow students to learn
some of the characteristic system features of scientific and technical terminology of the English
language and typical cases of differences between the Ukrainian and English languages that arise
in translation. These lecture notes can also provide practical assistance to future translators in
editing of simple as well as complex, specific texts both of scientific and technical nature.
The methodological instructions are formed in accordance with the work program of the
discipline "Scientific and Technical Translation", taking into account the peculiarities of
translation activity.
