solutions were shaken and after separation of aqueous and
                 organic phase the resultswere observed. In test tubes, which
                 contained hexane, no changes occurred. In a test tube, which
                 contained  1-hexene,  purple  color  of  the  KMnO 4  solution
                 changed to brown due to the reduction reaction of KMnO 4
                 to MnO 2, and accordingly, oxidation alkene.
                       In a test tube with 1-hex and  bromine water  can  be
                 seen a very rapid discoloration of bromine water due to the
                 reaction:

                 In a test tube with a gas-duct (Fig. 2.1) pour 5-6 cm  of pre-
                 prepared mixture consisting of one part of ethanol and three
                 parts  of  concentrated  sulfuric  acid  (in  volume),  introduce
                 thin  glass  capillaries  to  prevent    emissions  of  substances
                 from the test tube.  The tube is covered with a gas-fired tube
                 and  carefully  heated.    After  displacement  from  the  air
                 sample  tube,  the  formed  ethane  is  passed  into  a  test  tube
                 with  bromine  water,  and  then  -  in  aqueous  solution  of
                 potassium permanganate.
