COOLING SYSTEM AND LUBRICATION SYSTEM OF
ENGINE
1 The purpose of the work is to study the purpose, general
scheme, principle of working and design features of cooling and
lubrication systems as well as possible problems.
2 Basic theoretical provisions
During process of studying systems of cooling and lubrication
of ICE it is necessary to identify the advantages and disadvantages
of systems with water and air cooling as well as cooling systems
with forced and thermo siphon circulating circuits of the liquid,
systems of closed and open ones.
There are a number of requirements to systems of cooling:
- no overheating or overcooling of the engine of all modes of
its working in different stages and climatic conditions;
- small relative power and cooling costs;
- compactness of the cooling system;
- operational reliability, determined by the term of service,
safety, simplicity and convenience of regulation and maintenance;
- small system weight.
It is necessary to show as in the designs to be analyzed the
requirements are realized.
Air-cooled motors are endowed with such a negative property
as the uneven distribution of temperatures across the walls and
cylinder heads. In this case, there is a need to provide sufficient
metal split at the sites of high temperature fluctuations. Materials
with high thermal conductivity are used, channels of sufficient size
are made in order to receive air intensively, the zones of its
stagnation are eliminated, ribs should be placed in accordance with
the direction of heat flows of air.
For better warming and to avoid overcooling the engine in air-
cooled systems, thermostatic control devices are used.
For liquid systems, it is necessary to consider the design of
radiators, centrifugal pumps, to study the types of fans and drives
