                         1. The essence of the concept "counterculture", its role in socio-cultural

                  development

                         Certain styles, cultural  trends, traditions,  etc. dominate  during a particular
                  cultural-historical epoch. At the same time, within the limits of one cultural and

                  historical epoch, elitist, folk and mass forms of culture co-exist. Sometimes there
                  may be a process where the opposite form of culture is prevailing. Such a process
                  is regarded as the birth of counterculture.
