group are represented by ones which have the special devices
(gadgets) for mechanical closing the sampler’s chamber (this gadget
is operated from the surface). BS-2 (ПД-2) and SRZ-1 (ПРИЗ-1)
samplers belong to the second group. They don’t have the clockwork

drive. Closing the valves of these samplers is conducted by shaking
the sampler by sharp braking the cylinder of drawworks or by
the impact of the load which is put down into the well by means of

the wire (rope).
There are one chamber and multichamber samplers. Multi-
chamber samplers make possible taking several samples of formation
oil out of a well. It increases the accuracy of determining the

properties of formation oil.
Flowing sampler BS-3M (ПД-3М) (fig. 10.1) is one of the most
commonly used in oil fields. It is used for raising up the subsurface

(downhole) samples of oil under pressure up to 30 MPa and under
temperature up to 100 − 120 °С. The sizes of sampler BS-3M (ПД-
3М) are following: the diameter is 36 mm, the length is 2240 mm

(without the loading element). The weight of the sampler is 10 kg, the

volume of the receiving chamber is 800 сm . The maximum depth of
its putting down is 3000 m. Flowing sampler BS-3M (ПД-3М)

consists of clockwork drive 1; joint 2; intermediate shaft 3; windows
4; lever 6; upper valve 9; spring of the upper valve 7; seat of the

upper valve 8; needle 10; balls 12; cage 13; tie-rod 14; lower valve 15;
seat of the lower valve 16; spring of the lower valve 17 and filter 18.

Besides sampler BS-3M (ПД-3М) such flowing samplers as
DHS-100 (ПГ-100), DHFlS-40 (ПГПр-40), SRZ-1 (ПРИЗ-1), PDS
(ППГ), the sampler of Kondratiev’s structure, the downhole sampler

of Ivanov’s and Portnov’s structure and others and such samplers of
closed type as PSS-300 (ВПП-300), SPS-5 (ПВП-5) and others are
also used in oil fields.
The technical characteristics of flowing sampler DHS-100 (ПГ-

100) are following: the volume of the sample of oil taken out of

the well by the sampler is 400 сm ; the diameter is 38 mm; the length
is 2000 mm; the weight of the sampler is not bigger than 11.3 kg;

the maximum bottom hole pressure is up to 50 MPa for sampler DHS-
100 (ПГ-100) or up to 100 MPa for sampler DHS-100-01 (ПГ-100-
01).
