Text 1. Shape of the Earth and its structure.
The Earth is neither a very large, nor a very small planet. But it is

the home planet, the site of all life, and the place from which the entire
universe is viewed. The Earth is not in a perfect spherical shape. It is
flattened at the poles. Its diameter is 7,900 miles (12,700 kilometers)

from pole to pole. It is 7,920 miles (12,750 kilometers) around at
                  equator.
As the Earth is the place, people live in, its history has been

always the centre of interest for many philosophers and discoverers.
