Electronic distance meter instruments (figure 8.6.) measure
distances between the instrument and the sighting points, comprising a
transmitter and a receiver. There are such types EDM as electro-
optical distance meter, impulse distance meter, microwave distance
meter.

Digital theodite, electronic theodolite (figure 8.7.) features self-
adjusting and electronic scanning of the circle and direct reading of
the data from a digital display and/or storing on a data logger digital
levels, level for automatic levelling, with CCD line sensor system
requiring the use of a special digital levelling staff, bearing a bar-
coded scale (CCD-line).
Worldwide, surveyors benefit daily from the use of modern
equipment available today, and that equipment is likely to only
improve and get better with time. This equipment provides very
accurate data from the surveying service that you select. The job is
easier and obviously much more accurate today than ever before. You
won’t have any problems finding a company up to date on their use of
new and modern surveying methods.
