friends. It sometimes happens naturally, but the chances are very
small that your neighbor will be your choice as buddies… The best
relationship with neighbors is one of friendly distance. You say hello,
you small-talk if you see them in the yard, you discuss problems as
they arise and you help each other in an emergency. It's the kind of
arrangement where you see more of them in the summer than in the
winter. The driveway or the hedge or the fence between you is not
really a cold shoulder, but it is a clear boundary. We all like clearly
                            defined boundaries for ourselves."

1.Write your answer to the letter in Text 2.

2.George Santayana, an American philosopher, once wrote: "Friendship is
almost always the union of a part of one mind with a part of another; people
are friends in spots." Comment on this statement.

3.Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage
you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they are
ready to open their hearts to us. Show your friends how much you care. Write
a short letter to everyone you consider a friend. If you receive an answer,
then you’ll know you have a circle of friends.
