Unit 4:
Friends & Acquaintances
Love your neighbour as you love yourself.
( Good News Bible, Matthew, 22:37)
…love your enemies…
( Good News Bible, Matthew, 5:43-47)
Keep company with the wise and you will become wise. If you make friends
with stupid people, you will be ruined. (13, 20)
If you want people to like you, forgive them when they wrong you.
Remembering wrongs can break up a friendship. (17, 9)
Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers (18,
24)
Don’t make friends with people who have hot, violent tempers. You might learn
their habits and not be able to change. (22, 22)
An honest answer is a sign of true friendship (24, 26)
A friend means well, even when he hurts you. But when an enemy puts his arm
round your shoulder – watch out (27, 6)
Do not forget your friends or your father’s friends. If you are in trouble, don’t
ask your brother for help; a neighbour nearby can help you more than a brother
who is away. (27, 10)
If you flatter your friends, you set a trap for yourself (29, 5)
( Good News Bible, the Book of Proverbs)
