Task 2.1 Identify an individual risk of death in 2008 as a result of a road
traffic accident (RTA) in Ukraine, if the number of fatal outcomes were 7690
people per year. Accept the total population of Ukraine as 46∙million people.
Task 2.2 Determine the annual expected number of deaths in Ukraine due to

an electric shock if the value of individual risk is 19∙10 . Ukraine's population is
taken as 46 million people.
Task 2.3 Calculate the risk of injury in the enterprise (per a year) if the total
number of employees is 500, and for last 4,5 years 7 people have been injured.
Task 2.4 According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine in
2008, the number of deaths in consequence of emergencies caused by
technological activities of people is 413 people, in consequence of emergencies
caused by natural character is 128 people, in consequence of emergencies of social
and political character is 46 people. Find the risk of death in consequence of
emergency in 2008. Ukraine's population in 2008 was 46 000 000 people.
Task 2.5 The device consists of five mechanisms each of which may refuse
independently from other’s after some time t. A failure of at least one mechanism
leads to the failure of the whole device. During the time t the probability of reliable
work of each mechanism, respectively, equals to Р (t)=0,95; Р (t)=0,99;

Task 2.6 Determine the risk of an operator of oil processing facility, if the
probability of decompression of the oil container and conditional probabilities of
accidental self-ignition of spilled oil and fatal injuries are respectively 0,02; 0,05;
0,003.
Task 2.7 According to the data in 1997 a number of deaths in everyday life
are 72 929 people, and at work 1646 people. Find the risk of death of a person in
1997 when the population was 50 500 000 in 1997.
Task 2.8 It is known that a number of people lost at work in 1997 were 1646
people, and in 1998 – 1550 people. Find the risk of life loss for last two years if the
number of employees in 1997 amounted to 15 794 245 people, and in 1998 –
14 805 717 people.
Task 2.9 It is known that in 1998 the total number of injured in everyday
life are 2 million people, the number of injured at work – 47 540 people. Total
population– 50 million people. Search for:
a) the risk of injury from at least one type of traumatism;
b) the risk of injury at home (in everyday life) and at workplace.
Task 2.10 The plant employs 100 people. Every year 10 people get injured.
Find the probability (risk) of :
a) any three people from the list will have (not simultaneously) an injury;
b) three specific individuals from the list (Ivanenko, Petrenko, Sydorenko)
would get (not simultaneously) injured.
Task 2.11 Determine the risk of life loss during the performing of geological
work (in relation to the total number of accidents in the geological area), if the
distribution of accidents in this industry is: the main work– 41.4% (including fatal
