educate the ability to professionally evaluate the text in terms of logic is very
important for each editor. It is necessary to clearly visualize the role of logical
connections in the text and to own techniques and methods of logical analysis. The
editor must develop a reflex in violation of the logical norm. In the theory of
editing, a section devoted to its logical foundations began to be developed from the
late 50's. The first such a work was the work of Professor A. V. Zapadov, which
was included in the collection "About the editing of the book". Currently, all
textbooks and manuals on this discipline have such a section. Special scientific
researches are being conducted: editors refer to the logic by seeking answers to
questions that arise in the process of professional activity, philosophers from the
standpoint of their science analyze the work of the editor on the text.
Even in ancient Greece, it was noticed that the power of influence on the
interlocutor depends not only on the expressiveness of oral speech, but also on
what thoughts are expressed in the speech and how they are interconnected. Then
the study of the communicative effect covered not only the outer layers of
intellectual-linguistic communication, but also the internal semantic aspects. The
traditional rhetoric, which arose as the theory of oratory, was in parallel with the
logic - the science of the forms and laws of correct (productive) thinking. It is
worth paying attention to the fact that from the middle of the last century began to
talk about a scientific rhetoric as a theory that explores the holistic communicative
effect of mass information processes. More recently, the term "rhetoric" has begun
to be used to characterize the professional skills of people who create or process
printed text (journalists, editors) [6, p. 58].
In the printed text among the other components that determine the intensity
of the communicative effect and those that are subject to conscious control, the
semantic (logical organization) plays a significant role. Various operations are
aimed at detecting and improving the "logical components" of the text, can
generally be called a logical rationing. The particular importance has the choice of
the form of organization of text material, due not only to logical norms and the
intended purpose of the publication, but also to features of the reader environment.
