LECTURE 3. FIXED OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

                                                PROGRAM QUESTIONS:

Hardening Structures. Compliant Structures. Classification of fixed offshore structures.

Basic Design of a Fixed Jacket-/Tower-type Offshore Platform. The main technological
processes that implement the design data

3.1 Hardening Structures. Compliant Structures. Classification of fixed

               offshore structures.

3.1.1 Jacket Structures. The jacket, or template, structures are still the most

common offshore structures used for drilling and production. Some structures

contain enlarged legs, which are suitable for self-buoyancy during its installation at

the site. Fixed jacket structures consist of tubular members interconnected to form

               a three-dimensional space frame (fig. 3.1).
