INTRODUCTION
Economics is a social science that deals with human wants and their
satisfaction It is mostly concerned with the way the society chooses to employ its
scarce resources, which have alternative uses, for the production of goods for present
and future consumption.
The purpose of teaching discipline is the complex study of economic relations
as a form of effective production, a thorough knowledge of the problems of the
effective use by the society of limited production resources and ways to meet the
maximum needs that are constantly growing.
The main task of the discipline is to help students understand the
transformational processes in the Ukrainian economy, the problems of the transition
economy, to orient them in choosing an effective management decision, gaining the
primary skills of rational economic behavior.
The knowledge gained by students after studying economic theory will serve as
theoretical and methodological basis for their future professional success.
As a result of studying the discipline the student must
know:
- theoretical basis of economic theory;
- methods of research of socio-economic processes;
- content of property relations and the form of their implementation;
- the content and role of commodity-money and market relations in the
economic development of society;
- the essence, forms and functions of the market mechanism and competition;
- regularities of macroeconomic development and basis of economic growth;
- the purpose and tools of state regulation of the economy;
- mechanism of functioning of enterprises in conditions of market relations;
- modern trends in the development of the world economy.
be able:
- to carry out the analysis of social and economic processes in society;
- to independently investigate and assess the economic phenomena both at the
global and macro- and micro-levels;
- to orient their practical activity on effective management;
- independently solve economic problems;
- to envisage possible changes in the economic life of society and their impact
on political, social, organizational, technological, and other relations, as well as on
personal activities.
"Economic Theory" serves as a prerequisite of the following disciplines:
Mathematics, Psychology, Political science, Law, Sociology.
