3 Put 5 questions to Text 1.

4 Pick out from Text 1 all the verbs in the Passive Voice.

           5 Correct the mistake.
               1. This reduced voltage start minimizes the outrush current at
the start of the motor (locked rotor current) to 42% of that at full
           speed.
               2. The first line of the PLC program traps the timer with
           internal input 1000.
               3. Contacts from this internal replace the instantaneous timer
contacts specified in the softwired control circuit.
               4. If high-voltage protection is required, then the starter’s
auxiliary contacts or the overload contacts can be programmed.
               5. If the overloads open, the circuit will lose continuity and
           M1 will turn on.

7 Make a written translation of the following:
If low-voltage protection is required, then the starter’s auxiliary
contacts or the overload contacts can be programmed.
If the auxiliary contacts or the overloads are used as inputs, they
must be programmed as normally open (closed when the overloads
are closed and the motor is running) and placed in series with
contact 1000 in line 3 of the PLC program.
If the overloads open, the circuit will lose continuity and M1
           will turn OFF.

8 Speak about reduced-voltage-start motor control circuit
           using Figures 5.1-5.3.
