also contributes to the uniqueness of the text.
The rigorous accuracy requirements imposed on a oil and gas text make
restrictions on the use of figurative means of speech: metaphors, epithets, artistic
comparisons, proverbs, etc. Sometimes such means can penetrate into oil and gas
works, because the scientific style seeks not only for accuracy, but also for
persuasiveness, evidence. Sometimes such means are needed to implement the
requirement of clarity, the feasibility of presentation.
Emotionality, as well as expressiveness, in the scientific style, which
requires an objective, "intellectual" presentation of scientific data, is expressed
differently than in other styles. The perception of a oil and gas work may cause
certain feelings to the reader, but not as an appropriate response to the author's
emotionality, but as an awareness of the scientific fact itself. Although the
scientific discovery affects regardless of the method of its transmission, the author
of the oil and gas work does not always abandon the emotional and appraisal
attitude to the facts and events that he reports. The desire to restrict the use of the
author's "I" is not a tribute to etiquette, but a manifestation of an abstract,
generalized style of a scientific language that reflects the form of thinking.
A characteristic feature of the oil and gas works' style is their richness in
terms (in particular, international). However, one should not overestimate the
degree of this saturation: on average, the terminology of the vocabulary is usually
15-25 percent of the general vocabulary used in the work.
An important role in the style of oil and gas works is the use of abstract
vocabulary.
The vocabulary of the scientific language consists of three basic layers:
commonly used words, general oil and gas words and terms. In any oil and gas
text, commonly used vocabulary is the basis for the presentation. First of all, words
are selected with a generalized and abstract meaning (being, consciousness, fix,
temperature). With the help of general oil and gas words, phenomena and
processes are described in various fields of science and technology (system,
question, meaning, mark). One of the features of the use of general oil and gas
