As the scale of areometer is graduated at temperature 20 °С then

in order to reduce the density of oil at the certain temperature

t (t is not equal to 20 C) to the standard conditions at 20 °С
it is necessary to take into account a temperature correction.

The magnitudes of temperature corrections for different kinds of
oil and oil products are given in table 6.2.
