Cross section h/b=2 с=0,7

             ω t 0,18 0,21 0,37

In the table 5.1 there are values ω k for the considered sections.
The higher the value is, the more rational section is.
If we consider the diversity of forms of cross-sections, the most
rational ones are believed to be thin-walled closed cross-sections
(e.g., thin-walled ring), and the most irrational forms are thin-
walled and open-ended (for example, a beam channel or double-T
profile) that should be kept in mind when designing the structural
elements that are subject to torsion.

           Questions for self-assessment

           1. What type of deformation is defined as torsion?
           2. Which rule of signs is made for twisting moments?
           3. Formulate the hypotheses of torsion theory of direct beam of
           circular cross-section?
           4. What tense condition occurs in the location of a circular beam in
           torsion?
           5. How do you determine the stress in the cross section of a
           circular beam in torsion?
           6. How are the tangential stresses distributed on the area of
           circular section in torsion?
           7. Describe the condition of strength in torsion.
