Task 3. Answer the questions, using the active vocabulary.

                        1. What types of coordinate systems do you know? What is the
                  difference between them?
                        2. What kinds of coordinates help to position objects in a two-

                  and three-dimensional space?
                        3. Can you tell the difference between special and planar
                  coordinates?

                        4. What do you know about topographical plans and maps?
                        5. What is represented by a topographical profile?

Task 4. Define whether the following statements are true or
false. Correct the false ones according to the text.

                        1. There are three numbers in a global address – a number for
latitude, a number for longitude and one for ellipsoid.

                        2. Planar coordinates are also known as global coordinates.
                        3. The surface of the Earth is depicted by maps, plans and
                  profiles.

                        4. Topographical profiles are drawings which show the main
                  physical features on the ground.
                        5. Plans are usually large-scale drawings.
                        6. Maps are usually middle-scale drawings.

                        7. A topographic profile is a two-dimensional diagram that
describes the landscape in horisontal cross-section.
